When Love Outlives the Liking

Raw Chapter No. 011

I think its funny that we never talk about falling out of liking someone, only falling out of love.

You can love someone and not enjoy spending time with them.

Love them and hate the way they act.

Love the person they were and struggle with who they are now.

And I think what's sad about that is you still have love for them.

They just lost your admiration.

I think its easy to overlook when someone loses your admiration in a relationship.

Communication, faithfulness, intimacy.

Love languages, green flags, healthy relationships.

When was the last time you asked yourself if you like your partner?

The person they showed up as when you first met them.

The person they want to be.

The person you stand by when others don't understand why your with them.

No...

The person they are day after day.

Do you admire who they are as a person?

How they carry themselves?

How they treat others when its not benefiting them?

Are their morals similar to yours?

Do you like being around them when no ones watching?

I think we forget to like our partner once we learn to love them.

We start accepting things we don't like about them. Sometimes we may even start to defend their decisions we may not agree with.

We all have days where we dont even like us, so I believe we should give each other grace and allow room to grow and become better versions of ourselves.

But there's a difference between not liking something someone did and constantly clashing with the person they are. Its hard to not have those feelings.

Even if you know they aren't right for you, you still may want them.

You may see all the faults they have but remember all the good times you had with them. We tell ourselves its love, but maybe its just that we got used to that person.

That's what makes these types of relationships tough because we think if we love someone its enough. After we spent years with that person, we have all the memories and sacrifices we made for each other.

Maybe having those things make us believe its something that can be saved.

But to save a relationship you need to like that person too...not only love them.

I feel like we should be able to like our partners as well.

☕ Now I want to hear from you.

Do you believe love can survive when you've lost admiration for the person you're with, or is liking someone just as important as loving them?

Until our next cup... ☕🤎
